NIOSH ISSUES REPORT ON DELTA FLIGHT ATTENDANT UNIFORMS

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health issued a report in response to Delta Flight Attendant requests for a health hazard evaluation (HHE), coordinated and aided by the IAM.

Among many findings, NIOSH made recommendations regarding what Delta management should do to assist Delta Flight Attendants in who are experiencing reactions to their uniforms.

The federal agency--part of the Department of Health and Human Services--recommended that Delta management permit flight attendants to wear alternative uniforms for those flight attendants who have developed symptoms and adverse health affects and to allow alternative uniforms to be worn on a long term basis when symptoms resolve when wearing the alternative uniform.
